Party Time

These party pictures are really out of order. Oh well, there are too many here for me to worry about it. Anyway, this is Carter's last bite of cake. He did quite a good job on it as you can see!
Here's the after photo! He got out of the high chair and ran around doing his fake laugh. He was loving all the attention. He did not enjoy being cleaned off by me, Kyle, and Terri.
Isn't Ritter's little girl, Madisyn, so cute? I never would have thought Ritter would have a blond haired, blue eyed little girl running around with a purse!

This is Carter with his buddy Callie right before he dug into his cake. We thought it was probably a good idea to just get down to the diaper. It was so nice of Callie, Nate, and Paul to come over from Missoula.
This is Carter's second little bit of cake. He was very cautious at first. He wasn't sure if he should just squash his fingers in there.
Then Grandpa Dale got him a plastic spoon. That's when he really started to get into it. He's pretty handy with utensils.
As you can see, with the help of the spoon Carter was able to get some large chunks out of that little cake. He really enjoyed it. I'm glad he didn't get a bellyache later. He was actually hungry for dinner at 5.

Abbey let Carter "shoot" the last couple basketballs from her game. He thought he was pretty cool in there. Aren't his little green football shoes cool?
Here's some party guests: Stephanie, Aunt Terri and Carter, and Ritter and Madisyn. Further back was Mom, Aunt Helen, Aunt Nancy, and Aunt Margaret. We had an excellent showing for the party. I really appreciate everyone coming.
Madisyn looked just gorgeous for the party. She was all decked out in her M & M shirt and skirt. She also had some lovely sandals on (and a bit of pizza sauce on her face)!
We have a ton of pictures from opening presents. Everyone was very generous. Carter was good for about the first five. Then he wanted to get down and play - I decided not to put up the many of me opening his presents.

This is when we first got there. Carter had just woken up from a nice two-hour nap (thankfully), so the blue guy is in his mouth. He liked riding the carousel with Jordan and Chelbie though.
Abbey took Cimarron for a ride on the carousel also. Sorry your face got obstructed, Abb. The moving pictures are tough! Cimarron looks so cute though, and she's so nice too.
Carter got to meet his Great Grandparents from Wyoming! It's always so nice to see them. Carter fed Great Grandma Clarabelle a bite of his chocolate cake later.
Here's some more party guests. From left to right, we have Paul, Callie, Nate, Great Grandma Bonnie, and Aunt Mary Jo. Carter is so lucky to have such fantastic relatives!

Here's Colty and Carter playing with his shark bath toys before the party. Grandma Diana, Grandpa Dick, Colten, and Breanne stayed with us over the weekend. We had a really good time, and Carter loved hanging out with them. He showed them how he plays with all his toys and runs around the house in a big circle.
Here's the Barsness cousins: Colten, Breanne, and Carter. Carter looks like he was trying to escape, but he was actually just kind of laying there. He took a nap shortly after.
Carter opened up some gifts from Grandpa and Grandma Barsness before we went to Silver Bow. He liked the farm wrapping paper a lot. He got so much cute stuff - I just want to thank everyone one more time!

Birthday Week

This is one of Carter's birthday presents from Grandma and Grandpa Burgman. They gave it to him on Friday (his birthday) after daycare. It's a huge Tonka dump truck - he loves pushing it around. You can tell he was saying "Oooooh".
Abbey rolled him around in it too. He thought it was pretty funny, especially when she dumped him out of there!

I just like his little soapy mohawk. He's got some nice hair; it's still nothing like Lando's though!
When I woke him up Friday morning to go to daycare, I told him he was a big 1 year old. We took a picture to see if he looked older. I'm strange - I know. You can tell he just woke up because he's still chewing on the blue guy.
We went to our friend Geah's babyshower on Saturday. She's due May 7th. Carter was a very good boy. Abbey and Grandma helped to entertain him. He was wearing his cartoon Beatles shirt and got many complements on it!

He got some early birthday presents from Kelly, his daycare lady (the phone) and our buddy Dana (the cups and clothes). He's a lucky guy to have so many nice buddies.
He's really started to like brushing his hair and other peoples hair. He was helping Grandma out here.
What a physique! He is pulling out Kleenex here if you can't tell. There's one box we just let him play with. It makes him so happy to make a mess.
He's getting very good at feeding himself. I put his food in his Baby Einstein bowl and use two spoons. He'll use one for awhile - but then he just puts it on the tray and plays with it. Then I can usually get him to eat the rest!

Funny stuff

Carter found this little green bouncy ball (very far left), and he loves it! He just laughs and laughs especially if it bounces back to him. He's so funny when he throws it; he kind of yells!

He knows that there is a pile of cards on the shelves by the microwave, so he goes over there all the time to dump them all over the floor. This kid just loves to make a mess! He's cute though! You can see the little scratch above his eyebrow. He crashed into the closet door; I guess that comes with walking.
He loves to be outside. I was showing him the ash tree. He kept saying it was "hot". I showed him that it was okay to touch. Grandma told him the stove was hot - so now anything he's not sure about is "hot". He thought the chainlink fence was too!
Carter found out that he could open the shiny gold mailbox too. I'm not sure what he was saying here, but I like his goofy expression.
These are more outside pictures from earlier in the week. It was windy, but there was some sunshine. Then it snowed the next two days of course. He just loves being outside.
I like this picture. I think Daddy told him he was going to get him. You can tell Carter was trying to run. He thinks he's really fast! He and Daddy played a lot, because Kyle headed to the Police Academy (for 12 long weeks) in Helena on Sunday. He'll be back every weekend though. It's going to take some getting used to.
Carter got kind of tired of falling over, so he decided to lead Grandpa around. I think this picture is so cute. Carter looks like such a little man!
Carter enjoys these little cars. I'm sure that he's probably to young to play with them; I just don't let him eat them. He likes to roll them back and forth and say some variation of "Vroom". He also likes to bang them together.
I just realized I have a lot of pictures this week. It was a funny week though. Here's Carter playing tug of war with Laney (with one of Grandpa's socks). They get along so well.
Carter is starting to like his Tonka tractor that he got from the Easter Bunny. He likes to put things in it and drive around. You can really tell he's making his car noise in this picture - look at those cheeks!
He gives "loves" and "kisses" all the time now. Here he is giving Grandma a nice kiss. Sometimes he puts his arms around your face and pulls you in! What a nice guy, huh?
I let him run around naked for awhile the other night. He was having a grand old time. He tried to help Grandma with the dishes. Mostly he just ran around with his blue guy though. What a physique!
Abbey was tickling him last Sunday. Check out that laughing man!
Grandma got Carter this Baby Einstein photo album. I know Lando has one too. Carter loves it though - he especially loves this picture of Grandpa. He's always pointing at it.
Grandma spoils Carter. She even lets him play in the sink and get all wet. He now makes someone go into the bathroom with him and says "Up". I'm starting to understand more and more things that he's saying.
This is the happy, "I got whipped cream with Grandpa" smile. He had such a good time that night. He walked everywhere, got to have his diaper off for about ten minutes, and shared a tasty treat with Grandpa and Laney.

Here's my big walking guy. He had some whipped cream with Grandpa - that's why he's carrying around the spoon!



One of his new favorite things is to carry stuff into the bathroom (in this case, Landon's mitten) and throw it in the tub. You can tell how pleased he is with himself!



This video is so dark unfortunately, but I love his laugh. He's discovered the joys of bouncy balls. We were playing in the kitchen, but he moved out to the coffee table.



These next two videos are Carter playing outside. It wasn't too bad out on Thursday, and Carter was just walking everywhere. Grandpa decided we should see how he did on uneven ground. He had a great time! My camera work is horrible though. In one of the videos he's upside down for awhile. I got a bit confused! They are still cute though.





Here are a couple bathtub videos from the end of February. They are not that exciting, but he does splash and make funny noises. I figured if I had them, I might as well put them up!

Pajama week!

Carter went to the Doctor on Tuesday, and he did have a sinus infection. His other one probably never went all the way away. That's easy to fix luckily! He spent Monday through Thursday with his Dad, and they had a great time. That's why you see so many pictures of Carter in pajamas this post!

Here is my big walkin guy with his Baby Einstein radio. He loves that thing. He really decided this week that he just needs us to help him stand up - then he's off. We went to Safeway, and he went up and down the aisles. He thought it was amazing that there were shelves on his level that he could grab stuff off!
I think he's going to be a snacker like his Daddy. He just walks through the kitchen, points at food, and eats it as he walks (or bounces obviously!). I love that shirt on him too!
This is Carter and his pal Laney. They are always together - I love to watch them play. Lane was watching Carter drive that car around and say "vroom".
Carter had a delicious breakfast on Sunday morning. First he had some pear blueberry oat cereal. Then he got this little fork and went crazy on some scrambled eggs. He's become very interested in forks lately.

We knew this vacuum would be a big hit when he felt better. He loves it. He walks and pushes it, crawls and pushes it, or (in this case) sits and pushes it. He just screams with happiness when he sees it.
Carter is a really happy kid when he's naked. He walks with his pointer finger out too. He got mad at us for wiping his noise the other day - so he walked away, pointed at us, and yelled "Bup, Bup, Bup". It was hilarious.

I'm not sure what made him so happy here; it's just a cute picture. He's got some chubby legs for such a little man.
The first thing he does after a bath is try to yank the towl off his head. He's not a fan of laying still for lotion either.
Jordan got this toy in her kid's meal last week. Carter thought he should be able to eat it. It didn't taste very good, but he laughed when the pink ball would shoot up in the air.
He's been having a good time eating this week. I think he's happy that his little throat isn't sore anymore. Usually he wants out of the high chair right away. He's too busy to sit still!

Easter pictures

Poor Carter had a rough first Easter. He woke up with a fever and had it pretty much all day. He also wouldn't eat and nothing seemed to make him happy for more than a couple minutes. Luckily, he seemed much better this morning. Hopefully whatever he had is gone. He loved all his stuff though. Thanks everyone for the gifts!


Here's Laney with her Easter treat from Patsy and Dale. It was a triple Dingo - extra meat flavor! She thought it was absolutely delicious.
This is a cute picture of Nicole and her boys. They are too cute. They had a really good time hunting for eggs.
Can you tell he had a fever? Those are some really rosy cheeks. He sure looked handsome though in his many shades of blue.
He did have a little bit of fun with all the plastic eggs. He liked to take the candy out and then put them in the basket. Mom, Terri, and Kyle hid about 40 eggs filled with candy, toys, and money.
Unfortunately it was a windy day (as you can tell by Carter's hair). It was so nice on Saturday too. Oh well, Easter is usually kind of a blustery day. I just had high hopes.
Here's a rare family photo. I think we were looking at a different camera however. Carter is giving a nice "Hang ten" sign. I think he was waving to himself. He likes to do that now.

Here's one of the egg hunters - Abbey Jean. She found quite a few eggs. She shared the candy though since she's so nice.
Here's Austin. He found one egg and a golf ball. He liked the golf ball a lot better!
Here's Jordan and Connor (I love his smile). Jordan looked so pretty in that dress. They looked for eggs together.
Here's Carter's fantastic gifts that were at Grandma and Grandpa's house. His Easter basket was the cutest thing ever. It's tail wagged, and it said "Happy Easter". Carter loved the vacuum cleaner. I'm sure when he feels better it will be a huge hit!
